Is your life like the bag on the freeway?

July 1, 2011

Earlier this week when I was driving to work I saw this bag floating along by the freeway.  It wasn’t a grocery store bag, it actually looked a large dry cleaning bag.  Some cars would avoid the bag by changing lanes.  Others were able to drive over it. One care had it kind of hooked on its wheels for about five or ten miles before the bag shook loose and began floating around again.   I know so many people who are like the bag, they let themselves get run over or just float along and allow someone else to direct their lives.  I can’t say I am like the bag.  I try so hard to live my life with purpose and make my choices with intent.  What about you?

  1. I love this post! Great metaphor for those who do allow other’s to drive their lives. I shall think of this post next time I see a floating bag. I’m confident when I say I do not allow other’s to drive my life for me, I’ve been told I’m confident and strong-minded, opinionated and organised. Traits, which I hope, will lead me to create a secure future for myself, alone, with just my doing. Of course, through our lives, we will always come across the ‘floaters’ who just tag along with the herd.. Or car, in this instance. My, now ex, university flat mate fitted right into the floaters category, hance the ex part! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
